Salaam a lakum (Peace be to you.) My name is Cassie. I am a Live Dead missionary from Southwest Missouri. I served my first two years in Sudan at an international school. We sought to share the love of Jesus with all of our students and their families. After the door to Sudan was closed, God led me to transition to the Middle East, where I am currently finishing up my tenth year of international ministry!

I serve on the leadership team of the Middle East Live Dead Launch Team. Live Dead is an initiative that focuses on church planting in teams amongst unreached people groups. As a launch team, we have two main goals: 1) To see Muslims come to Jesus and form a local church. 2) To train and raise up missionaries who will transition from the launch team to other locations throughout the Arab World and see Muslims there come to Jesus and form a local church.

So, what does life look like sharing Jesus with Muslims on a daily basis? A conversation with a neighbor over a cup of piping hot tea. A five hour visit to a friend’s house complete with a feast of Arab food! Sharing the gift of a Bible with a woman who is seeking truth. Leading a girls club weekly and loving on them and their families, reminding them that God made each one of them special and loves them dearly. Sweet times of abiding in Jesus’ presence to fill me up for the day. Steering conversations towards God and eternal matters. Attending celebrations—weddings and engagements—to build repertoire and deepen relationships with locals. Preparing to tell Bible stories in Arabic to a friend or neighbor. This life is full of intentional decisions to proclaim and glorify Jesus in all that I do every day.

The result…what does it look like? See a room filled with the smiling faces of girls every week, eager to hear again just how much they are loved. Listen to the neighborhood fathers thank us for loving their daughters and wives and investing in them. Read with my Muslim friend from the Gospel of Matthew. Hear as the message of Jesus’ gift of salvation is clearly explained to a room full of children. Cry as a devoted Muslim denies the truth of Jesus’ deity and remains lost. Rejoice as a group of refugee Muslim children and their parents fill up a local church and sing songs of praise to Jesus!

Jesus is at work in the Middle East! I look forward to returning to Jordan in the spring of 2022 to continue ministering to Muslims and training others to do the same! The opportunities are endless, and there are still so many who have not yet heard even one time the message of Jesus’ love and gift of salvation! In particular, I look forward to continuing to pour into the lives of children and their families—through a girls club or English camps or other avenues the Lord presents. Jesus’ words in Matthew 19 still ring true today: “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
