Country/Region: Portugal
Mount Hope Supported Since: 1999
We have been serving in Portugal since late 1989, teaching, training, preaching and holding leadership seminars. In 2005 God opened doors for us to minister in Angola (a large Portuguese-speaking nation in Africa) where we have been actively ministering, helping to train the more than 10,000 church leaders who have not had opportunities to be adequately trained in Bible and theology. As a result in 2012 we co-founded, along with AG missionary Dr. Carl Gibbs, the Angola Assemblies of God Theological College (FATAD).
Harry now serves as the Reitor (General Director) of FATAD school which has grown to 520 BA level students studying on two campuses 420 miles apart. In 2022 another 160 students will be admitted into the program. Beth serves as Registrar and oversees academic and student records. We are currently directing two building expansion projects to better house students on both sites, as well as spearheading the translation of the Africa’s Hope Discovery Series Bible curriculum into Portuguese. We continue to minister in local churches on weekends. Our short-term goal is to see our trained leadership team take full responsibility for the college and we move into a consultant role, as well as continuing our teaching ministry and finalizing the Discovery Series project. Our ministry in Portugal has been great reduced and we are so grateful to the the great team He has raised up at Mount Hope Bible College in Fanhões, Portugal, and for the entire AG mission team in Portugal, which enables us to serve in Angola.
